This passage is a sweeping view of what God accomplished through the earthly ministry and sacrificial death of Jesus. He forgives our sins. But He does so much more! He also “cleanses” us from sin, setting us free from it. And He also refines a people that He calls His own and that He calls to worship and live together before Him - His Church.
