"Worry is like a rocking chair: It gives you something to do but never gets you anywhere." ~ Erma Bombeck
"Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?" Mt. 6:26-27
Anxiety is going to be a growing challenge for many of us. When will this be over? Will it be safe to them come back out of isolation? What if they're wrong? What if I get sick? Is that person sick? They look okay, but maybe they are asymptomatic and carrying COVID-19? And the list of things to worry can go on and on and on. As we noted weeks ago, "Be afraid, but do not be given to fear." We are to be cautious but we are not to cower in the corner in fear.
Philippians 4:4-7 says, "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonablenessd be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Lots of wisdom here: Joy overcomes fear. Find things to rejoice in today. Reasonableness overcomes fear. Trust God - He loves you. Prayer overcomes fear. Thankfulness overcomes fear. Peace - that God gives - overcomes fear.
