Comparison to others is not only a robber of joy, it is a builder of pride. - Jon Payne
Hey, let's play a game? Here is the deal though. There is a 100% chance that you are going to lose. That's right. You have no hope of winning. Absolutely, none. Still interested in playing? Probably not.
There is a 'game' in life that we all play ... it is the game called COMPARISON. We look around us and constantly compare our lives with other. We compare our cars, our kids, our jobs, our homes, our bodies, our clothes, our church attendance, our social media pages, and on and on and on. But we ALWAYS lose, even when we think we win.
If we compare and come out the loser, we lose and feel defeated, small, insignificant, bitter, jealous, etc.
If we compare and come out the winner, we still lose as we fall into pride, arrogance, complacency, worldly comfort, etc.
You can't win at this game. How do you defeat the game of Comparison? It is a secret ... Philippians 4:11-13 says, "I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Being content in Christ is the ONLY cure for this. Christ is the WIN, and only Christ is the win.
