Pray For Our Nation

This week is a big week in our nation's political life. Iowa will kick-off the official primary season with its caucus on Monday, Tuesday will be the State of The Union Address by our President, and Wednesday will be a vote on what has been a sadly divisive impeachment experience for our country. And faithful Christ-Followers find themselves on all sides of these important events.

Often in all of the discussions and debates we lose sight of what is most important. In 1 Timothy 2:1 we are urged to pray for all, especially our leaders - For those running for office, for those in office - But to what end ought we pray? Verse 2 tells us, "that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way."

So in the days ahead let us pray for ourselves, our fellow citizens, and our leaders and remember that our prayers are to be to the end that we may live peacefully, quietly, and godly lives ... in EVERY way. We have a tremendous opportunity and responsibility to represent Christ well to our nation.
