Sunday’s sermon continues our series: Acts - Be My Witnesses with a sermon entitled, "Caught in the act—when our sins catch up with us” from Acts 5:1-11
On occasion God chooses to show how seriously he takes sin. In this first part of the book of Acts, the early church was proving to be full of generosity as church members sold land and gave of what they had to help one another. Two individuals, Ananias and Sapphira, brought God’s judgment upon themselves for attempting to deceive the church. The consequences for their sin were severe—more severe than our contemporary culture is comfortable with. Yet, God reminds us in this event how treasonous all our sins are to him, so that we might have a healthy fear of him.
