Wednesday Wisdom - September 23

The calm that puts us to sleep is more fatal than the storms that keep us awake.

~ Anonymous

This means that self-satisfaction is more dangerous to our lives than suffering. A friend recently had a medical struggle, but in the midst of it they discovered a hidden and silent condition that is often fatal. Somewhere today there is likely a person who has no idea at all they have the same condition, but who will die without warning in their sleep.

The takeaway here is not to be afraid of the calms in our lives - be thankful for them - but rather we ought also be thankful, and perhaps more thankful, for the storms in our lives that though difficult are for our good and used by God to bring us life in unexpected ways.
