From Sunday's Sermon:
Excerpts from "Ministries of Mercy" by Timothy Keller
✦ Mercy to the full range of human needs is such an essential mark of being a Christian that it can be used as a test of true faith.
✦ The church herself has almost completely conceded this work [the ministry of mercy] to secular agencies and authorities.
✦ Ministry of mercy is the meeting of "felt" needs through deeds ... a spiritual ministry to physical needs.
✦ Mercy is a command of God, yet it cannot simply be a response to a demand. It must arise out of hearts made generous and gracious by an understanding and experience of God's mercy.
